Becoming I was created simultaneously alongside its companion piece, Becoming II. Sharing a symbiotic relationship, both artworks developed together in the studio, utilizing a shared palette of earthy terracottas, deep blues, and warm ochres to explore the concept of personal growth.
Beyond the playful grid patterns and organic botanical silhouettes on the surface, this piece contains a hidden history. The very first layer of the canvas is made of hand-cut paper shapes that are entirely invisible to the viewer. Each hidden piece of paper represents a distinct, positive wish infused into the artwork for the person who will ultimately own it. This slow, meditative layering process mirrors the philosophy of the piece: a reminder to stop waiting for tomorrow to be happy.
